A number of new features and enhancements will be coming to the eModal Community Portal (eCP) PreGate application in late 2019 to improve visibility, accuracy, and security for all eModal users.
Support for Drop and Pick Bare Chassis Moves
Adding the Drop Bare Chassis (in) and Pick Bare Chassis (out) move types will give terminal and depot operators the ability to track bare chassis movements in and out of the gate in the eModal PreGate and Pre-Advice modules. Data captured includes Bare Chassis Number, Size/Type, and Weight. This will provide the full picture of chassis movements and history, which can assist in chassis billing, equipment availability, and compliance.
Reference Number Validation Added to Dray In and Dray Out Moves
A dray move allows a container, which has been marked for dray by the terminal, to move in and out of the terminal without affecting the container status. Currently in eModal, motor carrier/trucker users can enter a Reference Number (i.e. booking number or dray order) in the allotted field in the eModal PreGate and Pre-Advice modules; however, it is used as information only. Adding the ability to validate the Reference Number and Reference Type against data sent to eModal by the terminal will improve accuracy and security by ensuring that the correct trucking company is moving the referenced container.
Support for PreGate PIN
This feature allows terminal users to manually capture a PIN for a specific move type or for all move types to authenticate the move(s) and expedite gate transactions. Terminals have the option to transmit the PIN via API or EDI 315 for authentication in eModal. The PIN can be configured to be alpha, numeric or alphanumeric, and the field may be optional or mandatory.
The feature also supports auto-generation of a PIN for a specific move type or for all move types. PINs can also be linked to Group Codes: all containers in the group can either have the same PIN, or terminals can require a unique PIN for each request.
